Settings Guide
LegendLinks settings are organized into tabs for easy navigation. This guide explains each setting and how to configure it.
Accessing Settings
- Go to LegendLinks → Settings in your WordPress admin
- Use the tabs at the top to navigate between sections
Settings Tabs
General Settings
Configure basic plugin behavior and preferences.
Link Prefix
- Default:
go - Description: The prefix used in your short links
- Example: With prefix "go", links will be
yoursite.com/go/slug - Recommendation: Keep it short (1-3 characters) for cleaner URLs
Default Redirect Type
- Options: 301 Permanent, 302 Temporary, 307 Temporary, JavaScript, Meta Refresh, Cloaked
- Default: 301 Permanent
- Description: The default redirect type for new links
- Recommendation: Use 301 for SEO-friendly permanent redirects
Link Attributes (Default)
- Nofollow: Add
rel="nofollow"to links (recommended for affiliate links) - Sponsored: Add
rel="sponsored"to links (required for some affiliate programs) - UGC: Add
rel="ugc"for user-generated content links - Description: Default attributes applied to all new links
- Recommendation: Enable Nofollow and Sponsored for affiliate links
Amazon Compliance Mode
- Description: Automatically detects Amazon links and enforces compliance
- Features:
- Auto-detects Amazon Associates links
- Enforces nofollow and sponsored attributes
- Uses 302 temporary redirects (Amazon recommended)
- Recommendation: Enable if you use Amazon Associates

Stealth Redirects (Ad-Blocker Bypass)
- Description: Bypasses ad-blockers by using randomized redirect paths
- Use Case: When your links are being blocked by ad-blockers
- Plan Requirement: Business plan only ($399/year)
- Note: May impact SEO (use sparingly). This feature generates randomized paths that are harder for ad-blockers to detect.
Tracking & Analytics
Configure analytics, tracking, and privacy settings.
Enable Click Tracking
- Description: Track clicks and generate analytics
- Default: Enabled
- Recommendation: Keep enabled for analytics
Anonymize IP Addresses (GDPR Compliance)
- Description: Anonymizes the last octet of IP addresses for GDPR compliance
- Example:
192.168.1.123becomes192.168.1.0 - Use Case: Required for EU users and privacy-conscious sites
- Function: Uses WordPress's
wp_privacy_anonymize_ip()function - Recommendation: Enable if you have EU visitors or want enhanced privacy
Bot Filtering
- Description: Filters out bot traffic from analytics
- Features:
- Excludes search engine crawlers
- Filters social media bots
- Improves data accuracy
- Plan Requirement: Pro plan or higher
- Recommendation: Enable for accurate human traffic data
Analytics Retention
- Options: 30 days, 90 days, 1 year, Forever
- Description: How long to keep analytics data
- Recommendation: Use "Forever" for comprehensive historical data
Link Behavior
Configure how links behave and redirect.
Redirect Delay
- Description: Delay before redirect (in milliseconds)
- Default: 0ms (instant)
- Use Case: Add delay for tracking scripts or user experience
- Note: Higher delays may impact user experience
Open in New Tab
- Description: Open links in a new browser tab/window
- Default: Disabled
- Use Case: Keep users on your site while visiting affiliate links
Preserve Query Parameters
- Description: Preserve query parameters from the short link in the redirect
- Example:
yoursite.com/go/link?ref=social→target.com?ref=social - Default: Enabled
- Recommendation: Keep enabled for tracking
Case-Sensitive Slugs
- Description: Treat slug casing as significant
- Default: Disabled
- Example: With disabled,

Geo-Targeting
- Description: Enable country-based redirects for all links
- Plan Requirement: Pro plan or higher
- Use Case: International campaigns, region-specific offers
- Note: Must be enabled globally before configuring country-specific URLs in individual links
- Recommendation: Enable if you use geo-targeting features
Device Targeting
- Description: Enable device-based redirects (iOS/Android) for all links
- Plan Requirement: Pro plan or higher
- Use Case: App promotion campaigns, mobile-specific landing pages
- Note: Must be enabled globally before configuring device URLs in individual links
- Recommendation: Enable if you promote mobile apps or have device-specific offers
Self-Healing
Configure automatic link health monitoring and repair.
Note: Self-Healing features are available in Pro, Plus, and Business plans.
Enable Self-Healing
- Description: Automatically monitor and fix broken links
- Default: Enabled
- Plan Requirement: Pro plan or higher
- Features:
- Daily health checks
- Automatic fallback URL activation
- Email notifications
Health Check Frequency
- Options: Daily, Weekly, Monthly
- Default: Daily
- Description: How often to check link health
- Recommendation: Daily for active sites
Email Notifications
- Description: Receive email alerts when links break
- Default: Enabled
- Recipients: Site administrator email
- Content: Link details, status, and fallback information
Auto-Activate Fallback
- Description: Automatically activate fallback URL when main link breaks
- Default: Enabled
- Use Case: Ensures links always redirect somewhere
- Recommendation: Enable for critical links
Fallback URL (Global)
- Description: Default fallback URL for all links without individual fallbacks
- Example: Your homepage or a "Link Unavailable" page
- Recommendation: Set to a helpful landing page
Import/Export
Manage bulk link operations.
Export Links
- Format: CSV
- Includes: All link data, analytics, settings
- Use Case: Backup, migration, analysis
- Location: Downloads as CSV file
Import Links
- Format: CSV
- Requirements:
- Must match export format
- Target URL required
- Slug optional (auto-generated if missing)
- Validation: Automatic validation on import
- Use Case: Bulk link creation, migration from other plugins
Import Options
- Skip Duplicates: Skip links with existing slugs
- Update Existing: Update links if slug exists
- Create New: Always create new links (may create duplicates)
Export Format
- Columns: Title, Slug, Target URL, Redirect Type, Categories, Tags, Status, Click Count
- Encoding: UTF-8
- Delimiter: Comma
Best Practices
For Affiliate Marketers
- Enable Amazon Compliance Mode if using Amazon Associates
- Enable Nofollow and Sponsored attributes by default
- Enable Bot Filtering for accurate conversion data
- Set Analytics Retention to "Forever" for long-term tracking
For Privacy-Conscious Sites
- Enable IP Anonymization for GDPR compliance
- Disable Preserve Query Parameters if not needed
- Set Analytics Retention to a shorter period if required
For High-Traffic Sites
- Enable Self-Healing with daily checks
- Set a Global Fallback URL for broken links
- Enable Email Notifications for critical links
- Use 301 Redirects for better performance
For SEO
- Use 301 Permanent Redirects (default)
- Keep Link Prefix short and memorable
- Enable Bot Filtering to exclude crawlers from analytics
- Use descriptive slugs for better tracking
Troubleshooting
Links Not Redirecting
- Check Default Redirect Type is set correctly
- Verify link is Active (not scheduled or expired)
- Check for plugin conflicts
Analytics Not Showing
- Ensure Enable Click Tracking is enabled
- Check Analytics Retention setting
- Verify links are being clicked
Broken Link Notifications
- Check Email Notifications is enabled
- Verify administrator email in WordPress settings
- Check spam folder
Import/Export Issues
- Ensure CSV format matches export format
- Check file encoding (must be UTF-8)
- Verify required columns are present
