Creating Your First Link

This guide will walk you through creating your first link with LegendLinks.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Go to LegendLinks → Links in your WordPress admin
  2. Click the "+ New Link" button (or go to LegendLinks → Add New)

Step 2: Enter Basic Information

Target URL

  • Enter the full URL you want to redirect to
  • Example: https://example.com/product

Title (Optional)

  • Give your link a friendly name
  • Example: "Summer Sale Product"

Slug (Optional)

  • The short part of your link
  • If left empty, will be auto-generated from the title
  • Example: summer-sale
  • Your final link will be: yoursite.com/go/summer-sale

Step 3: Choose Redirect Type

Select how the redirect should work:

  • 301 Permanent - Best for SEO (recommended)
  • 302 Temporary - For temporary campaigns
  • 307 Temporary - Preserves request method
  • JavaScript - For tracking scripts
  • Meta Refresh - HTML redirect
  • Cloaked - Iframe-based redirect

Recommendation: Use 301 Permanent for most affiliate links.

Link Attributes:

  • Nofollow - Tells search engines not to follow this link
  • Sponsored - Indicates a sponsored/affiliate link
  • UGC - User-generated content link

For Amazon Associates: Enable both Nofollow and Sponsored for compliance.

Click Save Link at the bottom of the page.

Once saved, your short link is ready to use:

  • Copy the short link from the link list
  • Use it in blog posts, social media, emails
  • Track clicks in the Analytics section
