Installation

Step 1: Install the Plugin

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard
  2. Navigate to Plugins → Add New
  3. Search for "LegendLinks" in the search box
  4. Click Install Now on the LegendLinks plugin
  5. After installation, click Activate

Alternative Installation Method:

  • Download the plugin ZIP file from your account
  • Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
  • Choose the ZIP file and click Install Now
  • Click Activate Plugin

After activation, you'll see LegendLinks in your WordPress admin menu. Click it to access the dashboard.

  1. Go to LegendLinks → Settings → General
  2. Find "Link Prefix" (default is go)
  3. Change it to something memorable (e.g., link, out, ref)
  4. Click Save Settings

Example: With prefix go, your links will be: yoursite.com/go/product-name

If you're creating affiliate links, set defaults:

  1. Go to LegendLinks → Settings → General
  2. Under "Link Attributes (Default)":
    • ✅ Check "Nofollow" (recommended for affiliate links)
    • ✅ Check "Sponsored" (required for affiliate compliance)
  3. Click Save Settings

Step 3: Enable Amazon Compliance (If Using Amazon Associates)

  1. Go to LegendLinks → Settings → General
  2. Check "Amazon Compliance Mode"
  3. Click Save Settings

This automatically ensures all Amazon links meet compliance requirements.

  1. Go to LegendLinks → Links
  2. Click "+ New Link" button
  3. Enter your Target URL (the destination link)
    • Example: https://example.com/product
  4. (Optional) Enter a Title for organization
  5. (Optional) Enter a Slug (auto-generates if empty)
    • Example: product-name
  6. Click "Create Link"

Your short link will be: yoursite.com/go/product-name

Advanced Method (Full Configuration)

For more control, use the full link editor:

  1. Go to LegendLinks → Links → Add New
  2. Fill in all tabs:
    • Basic Info: URL, title, slug, redirect type, attributes
    • Advanced: Redirect delay, scheduling, custom CSS
    • UTM Parameters: Campaign tracking
    • Rotation/A/B: Multiple URLs for testing (Pro plan and higher)
    • Geo/Device: Location and device targeting (Pro plan and higher)
    • Health & Fallback: Broken link monitoring (Pro plan and higher)
  3. Click "Create Link"
