Geo-targeting uses visitor IP addresses to determine their location and redirect them to location-appropriate content.
Key Benefits
- π International Marketing: Different content for different countries
- π― Localized Offers: Region-specific promotions and pricing
- π Language Targeting: Redirect to language-appropriate pages
- π A/B Testing: Test content variations by location

How Geo-Targeting Works
IP-Based Detection
LegendLinks uses visitor IP addresses to determine:
- Country: Primary targeting level
- Region/State: More granular targeting
- City: For hyper-local content (future feature)
Redirect Logic
When a visitor clicks your geo-targeted link, LegendLinks:
- Detects the visitor's country based on their IP address
- Checks if you have a country-specific URL configured
- Redirects to the matching country URL, or uses the default URL if no match
Example Flow:

- UK visitor β Redirects to UK-specific URL
- Other countries β Redirects to default URL

Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is geo-targeting?
Very accurate. Uses reliable IP geolocation databases with 99%+ accuracy for country-level detection.
Does it work with VPNs?
VPNs override location. Users with VPNs will see content based on their VPN location, not their actual location.
Can I target cities or regions?
Country-level currently. City and region targeting may be added in future updates.
How does it affect SEO?
Neutral impact. Uses proper redirects that search engines understand and follow.
Is IP data stored?
Minimally. Only used for redirect logic, not stored long-term for privacy compliance.
What about mobile users?
Fully supported. Works with all devices and network types.
Can I exclude countries?
Yes. Simply don't add rules for countries you want to use the fallback/default URL.
How fast are the redirects?
Very fast. Geo lookup adds less than 50ms latency in most cases.
